Women Sleep Differently Than Men

Women sleep less than men do, and if you have a family history of sleep disorders, insomnia or other sleeping problems, it can cause all kinds of problems. If your partner complains that you snore when he is asleep, or you are experiencing severe or frequent headaches, dizziness or even a feeling of faintness while you are asleep, you should see a health care provider right away. Many times these problems are caused by an underlying health problem. If you suspect you have a sleeping disorder or illness that is keeping you from getting the rest you need, see your doctor as soon as possible.

Women Sleep

One common sleeping disorder that affects women is sleep-disorder breathing. A person with sleep-disorders breathing can experience short breaths during the night, which can keep them awake. Women who have sleep apnea often experience daytime sleepiness. They may feel weak and tired in the morning, or they may feel irritable because they always feel so sleepy in the evening. If you are suffering from a sleep-disorder breathing, you should see your doctor.

Medications can be prescribed to help people overcome sleep disorders, and those medications treat the symptoms of those disorders. One common medication used to treat symptoms of insomnia is called risperdal. It is sometimes given to children in order to help them sleep better at night. Other medications treat the actual sleep problem. One example is Ambien, which is a popular sleep aid for adults.

Another common sleep disorder that plagues women is restless legs syndrome. Women are five times more likely than men to develop rls, and it usually appears sometime between the ages of twelve and forty-four. In some people, it appears suddenly and there are no symptoms. However, in many people who suffer from restless legs syndrome, it causes extreme discomfort and the inability to stay asleep or fall asleep.

Women also have problems sleeping due to hormonal changes during pregnancy. Many women report sleep problems because of hormonal changes. Some women find that the hormones regulate what sleep they are able to get at night. When the body’s hormones change, it can cause sleep disturbances to occur.

Some women may not even be aware that they are pregnant. They may go to bed early in the morning and be fine, but some don’t have this luxury. The lack of sleep due to hormonal fluctuations can affect women on the job, too. If the body’s hormones are out of whack, a woman may need to take more naps or not work as hard as she might otherwise.

Lastly, another common problem that plagues women is sleep apnea. This condition causes pauses in breathing while a person sleeps, and it can be accompanied by snoring. While this condition does not affect everyone, if you have it, you should mention it to your doctor. You should also consider seeing a therapist about getting treatment for sleep disorders such as snoring or falling asleep during the day.

There are many causes of these types of sleep disorders. If you think you are suffering from any of them, be sure to tell your doctor. Getting treatment is important to ensure a good night of rest so you can wake up feeling refreshed and ready to face the day.

The best way to prevent yourself from becoming dependent on pharmaceuticals is to get regular checkups with your health care provider. Your health care provider will be able to run tests on your health and recommend things that can help you avoid sleep disorders. For example, if you have a tendency to snore when you sleep, your doctor may prescribe you nasal sprays or other aids that will help you breathe easier while you sleep. These are just a few examples of things your doctor can recommend to improve your quality of life and your rest.

If you do have one or more of these sleep disorders, it is always best to talk to your doctor about possible treatment options. Some sleep disorders are caused by a physical illness. Your doctor may recommend you to see a mental health care provider for additional treatment options. He or she may prescribe medication to treat your depression, for example, or other psychological treatments to make you feel more positive.

If you think you have persistent insomnia, try to determine the cause. Is your depression or other mood disorder affecting your sleeping habits? Do you have hormone imbalances causing you to become fatigued more easily at night? If so, a hormonal imbalance could be causing you to feel fatigued more often at work or at home.
